Who I Am ~ Anna Mcmanamey

My name is Anna McManamey and I am a certified nutrition and strength coach specialising in body transformations and empowering women to love their bodies. I grew up in Sydney, Australia and spent 6 years in the media industry as a television presenter and news reporter before pursuing my love of coaching full time. I had always led an active lifestyle, competing at the highest level in both dance and rhythmic gymnastics into my early twenties, and later as a group fitness instructor, all the while chasing my journalism career. It was a natural progression that my interests would later turn to fitness modelling and body sculpting competitions. I certainly wasn’t always the strong, happy and healthy woman I am today. In fact, I spent the majority of my young adult life feeling very unhappy and unhealthy. At 16 I developed a severe eating disorder, which I continued to battle for 7 years. At my lowest point, I weighed just 39 kilos. Eventually I reached a point where I knew I had to make a change. I was tired of feeling miserable, tired of feeling controlled by food and at war with my body. It was time for me to take back control of my health and start living the happy, fulfilling life I deserved. I was finally ready to #MAKEITHAPPEN Overcoming a lifetime of poor body image and disordered eating was not an overnight job, but with continued practice and patience, I’m extremely fortunate to have come out the other side with a renewed sense of strength and insight. I feel very privileged to now be in a position where I can motivate and inspire other young women to achieve a healthy relationship with food, exercise and body image.


Since stepping on stage in my first competition in 2012, I’m extremely proud to be recognised as one of Australia’s leading athletes in the field of fitness, figure and bikini competitions. I’ve competed in more than 30 shows to date, with several Australian titles, world rankings and multiple magazine features to my name. I have more than 10 years experience working in the fitness industry, but it wasn’t until my early 20’s that my commitment and consistency to weights training increased, eventually leading me to the competition stage where I won and placed in many federations including ANB, INBA, Musclemania, IFBB, and now, the WBFF Pro League. I love the challenge of competing and I’m constantly amazed by what people can achieve when they dedicate themselves to accomplishing a goal.


I take a holistic approach to training and nutrition, with a strong emphasis on developing a positive mindset and making sustainable lifestyle changes. I am a certified sports nutritional advisor with a proven track record of helping people of all experience levels achieve dramatic body transformations and improvements to their health and fitness. All diet plans are individually tailored to the client, taking into account their food likes and dislikes, and nutritional preferences. I offer the option to follow a set Meal Plan, or Macros-only (IIFYM/ flexible dieting) approach. Essentially this gives you the option to have it all laid out for you – what to eat, how much to eat and when to eat it – or, give you the flexibility to create your own meal plan from scratch. I offer online and face-to-face coaching for clients of all experience levels and goals including fat loss, body sculpting, strength and muscle building and reverse dieting. Contest prep is available to a limited number of bikini, fitness model and figure competitors by application only. All nutrition and training programs are individually tailored to the client based on their needs, experience and rate of progression, with adjustments made as required. Weights training is the core focus of my programs, with minimal reliance on cardio. Basic weights training experience and access to either a commercial or home gym is recommended. I will also provide a fully personalised supplementation plan based on your specific needs and goals to improve performance, recovery and accelerate results from training.


I hold a Bachelor of Communications (Journalism) and spent 6 years as a television presenter, producer and news reporter before pursing my passion for health and fitness full time. I have presented for Seven Local News, Maximus Academy, Sky News, Totally Wild and numerous corporate reels and radio shows. I have also contributed and shot for various high profile health and fitness magazines and other mediums including Oxygen, Muscle & Fitness Hers, Health & Fitness, Natural Bodz, Muscle & Health, Fit & Firm, Daily Mail “Femail” and Inspire Australia.
