How to Stop Over Eating During Isolation

Quarantine or self isolation is without doubt the PERFECT environment to exacerbate issues with binge eating, emotional eating, mindless eating, snacking and grazing.

  • You’re bored.
  • You’re stressed.
  • You’re anxious.
  • It’s easier to eat in hiding.
  • You feel there’s no point “I can’t workout or stick to my plan properly anyway.”
  • You’re justifying it because “Everyone else is eating more & getting fat too.”

If the current situation continues for months, that’s a lot of time to accumulate poor eating behaviours, stress and weight gain.

So what can we do to better manage our eating habits and foster positive behaviours so we come out of this mentally, physically and emotionally stronger?

1. Be Prepared

Set yourself up in an environment that is conductive to your goals and supports success. Start by removing trigger foods from your pantry and replacing them with healthy, nourishing foods that make you feel good. 2. Focus on improving your nutrition

Right now is actually the PERFECT time to start a diet! There are no distractions, no social events to attend, you can’t eat out, you can’t see friends and family who would otherwise pressure you into eating indulgent foods. 3. Set a Meal Schedule

Humans thrive on structure, so set yourself a daily routine. Eat at set times, exercise at set times, work at set times and relax at set times. When you know what is coming and when it will help you stay more productive and reduce stress, thus reducing cravings to binge or eat mindlessly.
